Alleviating Space Shortage
Englewood Hospital & Medical Center Surgery Expansion
Anticipating growth in multiple surgical specialties, Englewood Hospital & Medical Center faces a shortage of pre-op support and storage space. To address these challenges, this renovation and expansion includes the addition of a new operating suite with five ORs located directly above the existing surgery department. To eliminate the stacks of Rubbermaid tubs filled with orthopedic supplies lining the corridors, the new design includes corridor niches outside each OR for equipment storage in addition to a dedicated equipment storage room.
The new ORs were designed to be interchangeable between ortho and neuro procedures for enhanced operational efficiency. In addition the PACU was designed to house beds in lieu of stretchers to reduce patient transfers.
Location: Englewood, NJ
Size 13,000 square feet, 5 ORs, 5 pre-op bays, 10 PACU bays
