The face of healthcare is changing in Monroe. Before the modernization of its facilities, Carolinas Medical Center-Union was a traditional, small-town inpatient hospital, meeting only the basic needs of local Union County residents, who frequently traveled to the nearby metropolitan area of Charlotte for advanced healthcare services. Today, CMC-Union no longer has to relinquish patient care to its metropolitan counterparts. The new Outpatient Diagnostic and Treatment Pavilion offers top-notch outpatient cardiology, radiation and medical oncology, cardiopulmonology, medical imaging, surgical, and rehabilitation services.
The exterior of the pavilion faces a main highway and increases the visibility of a hospital that was once obscured from view by trees. The attractive entry reaches out to patients and represents to the community the advanced level of care now available.
