This collaborative development between Margaret R. Pardee Hospital and Mission Health houses the outpatient services of each hospital. Located on a Greenfield and Brownfield site, the project was developed in a sustainable manner to achieve a balance of building and open site areas. As the first example of a new ambulatory model for both systems, this project establishes the vision and direction for future development and growth on this site (and others under consideration) in response to market demand.
Our team explored and integrated, where possible, opportunities for shared spaces, dual-natured spaces, reduced number of offices, and reduced onsite storage areas. The FreemanWhite team created simulation models using minimum, average, and maximum times for each process step to account for variation in process and procedure. We used the patient volume, task times, and process from the process map to create the simulation model. Based on this data, we calculated throughput times to confirm that the programmed sizes could easily manage the proposed volume.
The urgent care center is conveniently located next to outpatient imaging services. Its design features an open concept nurse work area and a multi-function greeter/check-in/registration zone. Strategically placed windows allow natural light into the department.
