Tahoe Forest Hospital Cancer Center
Lodge-Like Warmth Minimizes Anxiety
Developed as part of a multi-year phased master plan expansion, the new Gene Upshaw Memorial Tahoe Forest Cancer Center successfully integrates with the existing hospital and adjacent medical office buildings. Giving the hospital campus an immediately recognizable physical presence, the facility combines advanced cancer therapy with amenities that provide comfort to patients and staff. The multifaceted approach to healing design reduces stress through the use of a warm color palette, natural materials, and residential features such as a four-sided glass fireplace and exterior porches. The infusion spaces provide flexibility for privacy or interaction with other patients and/or family, as the patient desires.
A Tumor Board conference room and centrally placed physician offices support both radiation and medical oncology components. Wellness features, such as a resource library, retail area, patient navigators, and education areas support patients and their families.
